It is a type of massage that prepares the tissues for the sporting effort and prevention and recovery of injuries both in training and competition.

There really is no standard sports massage, we adapt our sports massages according to the needs of our clients and the physical activity they practice.

The general objectives of Home Massage’s Sports Massage at home are, therefore, to prepare the tissues for the sporting effort, keeping them in an optimal state, prevention of injuries both in training and in competition and recovery of the injuries that arise and of the physical form of the sportsman or woman.

 

We can differentiate Home Massage’s sports massage at home into three groups

 

1. Preparatory / pre-competition massage: Preferably applied (although it varies according to the authors) between 6 and 24 hours before the competition, training or activity, to optimise the elastic and contractile capacities of the tissues. It is an invigorating massage.

2.Recovery massage: This is usually applied between 55 minutes and 6 hours after the end of the activity. Beforehand, the athlete must perform an active cool-down that includes slowing down, stretching, hydration and respiratory and cardiac normalisation.

3. Maintenance massage: This should be done periodically. It is used as a means of diagnosis and treatment, forming part of the athlete’s preparation programme.
